Greener World Media Launches GreenerComputing.Com And Greener Computing News

—Christine Ervin and Daniel Kammen Join Advisory and Editorial Ranks—

OAKLAND, CA (May 1, 2007) - GreenerComputing.com, a web site for business professionals interested in greening IT operations, will launch today, announced Greener World Media President and Publisher Pete May.

The new web site, as well as Greener Computing News, a free, twice-monthly e-newsletter, will provide the latest green-related news, features, and resources for manufacturers, specifiers, and users of IT equipment. Published by Greener World Media, publisher of GreenBiz.com, GreenerBuildings.com, ClimateBiz.com, and GreenBizLeaders.com, GreenerComputing.com will address the key environmental issues facing today's IT professionals and will make clear how greening operations can improve the bottom line.

"GreenerComputing.com will serve as a one-stop resource for IT professionals on topics such as energy, waste and hazardous materials — critical issues for a growing number of companies," said Joel Makower, chairman and executive editor of Greener World Media. According to Makower, who for nearly 20 years has been a well-respected voice in the green business sector, matters such as energy— the power consumption of computers, servers, and related equipment— have become key factors in IT departments, especially with rising energy prices and heightened concern about climate change. Disposing of used computers and other IT equipment is another important concern, he said, noting that computers contain a "witches' brew" of hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium that can pollute the air and water and endanger human health. GreenerComputing.com will feature news and resources on these and other topics and assist professionals in their purchasing and operational decisions.

"As part of our mission to bring a green lens to business issues, we see GreenerComputing.com as a valuable resource for IT and facilities professionals. We'll be covering practical issues that will help them to better do their jobs by breaking down how they can save money and increase the efficiency of their operations," May said.

In addition to the launch of GreenerComputing.com and Greener Computing News, Greener World Media recently named Christine Ervin and Dan Kammen as editors at large for its stable of web sites. Ervin, who was the former Assistant Secretary of Energy for Energy Efficiency and Renewables under President Bill Clinton, will contribute regular columns to Greener World Media's sites and newsletters and will provide strategic counsel to the organization. Ervin has been widely credited for being instrumental in transforming the building industry in the United States toward sustainable practices.

Kammen, who is one of the leading analysts of national and international energy policy and technology as well as the economics and policy landscape, will also be an editorial contributor and strategic advisor. Kammen is a professor in the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California at Berkeley as well as a professor of public policy at Berkeley's Goldman School, a professor of Nuclear Engineering, and director of the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory.
