Joel Makower, Chairman and Executive Editor
Joel is a well-respected voice on business, the environment, and the bottom line. As a writer and strategist on corporate sustainability practices and clean technology, he has helped a wide range of companies align environmental goals with business strategy. He is author of several books on business and sustainability; a frequent commentator in print, broadcast, and online media; and a regular lecturer to companies and business groups. He also is a co-founder and principal of Clean Edge Inc., a research and publishing firm focusing on clean technologies, and serves as a senior consultant to GreenOrder, a sustainability strategy firm. From 1991 to 2005, Joel was editor of The Green Business Letter, an award-winning monthly newsletter on corporate environmental strategy. Joel is a graduate in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley and is an advisor to more than a dozen start-ups and non-profit organizations. The Associated Press has called Joel "the guru of green business practices."

Pete May, President and Publisher
Pete brings to Greener World Media his more than 20 years' experience in business-to-business publishing, at such companies as CMP, Miller-Freeman and M & T Publishing. Pete has worked in media sectors ranging from power delivery to computing to electronics. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President at Prism Business Media (formerly Primedia Business), responsible for ad sales and content for 12 publications and their websites, guiding a staff of 70 people, and generating annual revenue of $35 million. His previous experience includes publishing strategy and sales at media companies in the U.S. and Europe.

Matthew Wheeland, Managing Editor
Matt has a background in environmental journalism and new media, and is a graduate of U.C. Santa Cruz and the U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. He previously worked at AlterNet and Greater Good magazine and his writings on the environment, politics, culture and business have appeared in a wide range of print and online publications.

Hugh Byrne, Senior Vice President Product Development and Marketing
Hugh brings 20 years of diverse experience in the publishing and technology industries to Greener World Media. He has held senior sales and marketing roles with Oracle Corporation, Times Mirror (now Tribune), and Primedia Business, where he served as general manager for two of the company's most profitable business units. Hugh has an extensive background in business-to-business information products and direct marketing, and has consulted for numerous e-Commerce ventures in the areas of strategic development, market research, database marketing, and new product development.

Alan Robinson, Vice President Sales and Business Development
Alan is a 20-year industry veteran in B2B media advertising and management. Alan spent the past six years at Reed Business Information, where he served as group publisher of for EDN Worldwide. Prior to joining Reed Business Information, he was director of online advertising for PartMiner, Inc. Previously, Alan was the director of international publishing and director of international sales for CMP/United Business Media, director of international sales and marketing for Miller Freeman Publishing, and regional sales manager for M&T International Marketing. Alan is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and has an MBA from San Francisco State University.

Tilde Herrera, Associate Editor
Tilde previously worked as a business reporter and food writer before joining Greener World Media. A graduate of San Francisco State University, her work has been published in several publications, including the Bradenton (Fla.) Herald, Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Chronicle.

Jonathan Bardelline, Assistant Editor
Jonathan is a former newspaper reporter, editor, photographer and all-around multitasker who joined Greener World Media in late 2007. A graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Jonathan worked for publications in suburban Detroit before moving to the West Coast.

Leslie Guevarra, Associate Editor
Leslie joins Greener World Media with more than 20 years of news experience, including work at the San Francisco Chronicle, where she served as a deputy managing editor. She has been a reporter and editor in print, an associate producer and on-air public affairs program host, and a podcaster. In addition to the Chronicle and its website sfgate.com, her work has appeared in several other publications and on KTSF-TV in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Katherine Eastman, Ad and Marketing Coordinator
Katherine manages all advertising accounts and organizes GWM events. She has a marketing degree from the University of Florida and a background in graphic design, theatre, and landscape architecture.

Carlie Peterson, Project Coordinator
Carlie oversees site development and management, is charged with improving the
experience on our sites for our readers, and coordinates a myriad of other company projects and activities. She is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley with a degree in history and a background in geology.
Preston Gralla
Preston Gralla has been covering IT and the computer industry for more than 20 years. He was the founding managing editor of PC Week (now eWeek); a founding editor, then editor, and then editorial director of PC/Computing; and executive editor for both ZDNet and CNet. He has written about technology for major national newspapers and magazines, including USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the Dallas Morning News, PC World, Computerworld, PC Magazine, CIO Magazine, and many others. A well-known technology expert, he has also appeared on CNN, MSNBC, and NPR. In addition, he's won a number of awards for his writing, including Best Feature in a Computer Magazine from the Computer Press Association. Under his editorship, PC/Computing was a finalist for General Excellence from the National Magazine Awards. Preston is also the author of nearly 40 books, which have been translated into 20 languages and sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide, including "How the Internet Works," and "Windows Vista in a Nutshell." He also has a background covering environmental issues, starting when he was a reporter writing about the environment and alternative energy in western Massachusetts. He has also written about environmental issues for the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, and is the author of the book, "How the Environment Works."
Christine Ervin
Christine is a nationally respected leader and spokesperson on market-based strategies for green buildings, clean energy and climate change. Former Assistant Secretary of Energy for Energy Efficiency and Renewables, and President and CEO of the U.S. Green Building Council during the creation of the LEED® green-building standard, Christine is widely credited for being a major force in transforming the building industry in the U.S. toward sustainable practices. Previously, she was appointed by President Clinton to serve as Assistant Secretary of Energy for the nation's $1 billion portfolio of clean-energy technologies, a post she assumed after leading Oregon's Department of Energy. For nearly 20 years, she has championed strategies to better reflect environmental costs and benefits in private markets -- a focus which continues in her Portland-based consultancy and speaking engagements.
Daniel Kammen
Dan is one of the leading analysts of national and international energy policy and technology as well as of the economics and policy landscape. He is a professor in the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California at Berkeley, as well as professor of Public Policy at Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy, a professor of Nuclear Engineering, and director of the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory. He is consulted regularly by both companies and legislators in the U.S. and around the world, and is a core member of UC Berkeley's team that was awarded $500 million by BP to fund the Energy Biosciences Institute.
